We found this book while searching for another one, "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs." Both of these make great bed time reading for our now second grader. Everyone enjoys "reading." Its a great bonding time with our son.
Bought this as a gift for my 84-year old mother, who has always liked animals dressed up in clothes. Funny illustrations, cute ending.
This book presents a witty look at what it would be like if animals attempted to wear human clothes. The illustrations and ideas are understandable to young children but humorous enough to entertain older ones. Each page pictures a different animal in an article of clothing that manifestly does not work (one of the funniest is the hen wearing pants, with an egg caught inside). The sense of absurdity in this book will delight and cultivate a wonderful kind of humor.
My four year old son and I check this book out from the NYPL, and we loved it so much that we decided to purchase it from amazon. The illustrations are very nice. My son's favorite page is the one where the hen is wearing pants but is trying to lay an egg, with a big posterior protrusion. He begs me to imitate this often and just laughs hysterically. The text is large font and my son, who is four, can read some for the easier words. I highly recommend it.
Love the title. My next purchase will be "Why you should never take a shark to the dentist"
